He’s from Mexico. She’s from Missouri. They met in Atlanta and are coming back to Columbia in July for their wedding. I adore these two and can’t wait to meet the rest of their friends and families. Congratulations, Cat and Hector! See you in July!

I love hearing stories about how couples met, and Casi & Andrew’s story is especially fun! While students at MU, the two were both volunteer drivers for STRIPES, a program that provides “safe and confidential rides home” for MU students and their guests, “without judgment and at no cost to the patron.” Their first meeting was an on-the-job training session shuttling passengers home. How great is that?! And apparently Casi and Andrew aren’t the only STRIPES couple . . . just goes to show that doing a good deed can lead to other good things! Pass it on!

Congratulations, Kim & Brian! We spent a glorious April evening making pictures, chatting about wedding plans, and exploring Kim’s grandparents’ farm (pond! flowering trees! hay bales! sunset! fresh asparagus ripe and ready for picking!). Sure do love getting to spend time with Kim and Brian in a place that has special meaning to them. And there is no other place on Earth I’d rather be right now than right here: on a farm in mid-Missouri with evening light fading behind one happy HAPPY couple!

We had fun experimenting with a little “darker and moodier” lighting setup in the studio. These pictures are a collaboration with: photographer, Drew Piester; graphic designer (and our oh-so-lovely model), Anna Martin: hair & makeup artist extraordinaire, Jenniferlyn Hovis; and SimplyBridal, an online wedding gown retailer that ships dresses directly to brides and generously loaned us this beautiful dress for the shoot. Thanks to all involved! Here are a few of my favorites.

I sure did love stopping by the family farm for pictures en route from Rachel and Dallas’ ceremony in Mexico, MO to their reception in Columbia! In fact, their wedding day consisted of a series of personal touches, starting with the ceremony in Dallas’ family’s beautifully-lit church in Mexico, Missouri (which turned out to be one of the loveliest churches that we’ve ever shot in). Other fun “just-like-Rachel-and-Dallas” moments: their “american gothic-esque” grand entrance into the reception; a tractor-topped groom’s cake; a groomsman-topped tractor; and one of the hugest posse of kids (the young and the young-at-heart kind) ever to take over the dance floor. All of these and more are featured below. Enjoy!
