I saw two people today that I hadn’t bumped into in awhile.
My kids and I saw Lindsey Rendlen & Chris Patton at today’s downtown Holiday Parade.
(Oh how my kids LOVE a parade…psst: it’s all about the candy.)
Chris & Lindsey were married this spring and I’ve meant for months to finalize their album.
So how fun that the very day I see them is the same day that their album is ready to post.
I LOVED their wedding and I LOVED getting to know this couple.
There’s a soundtrack that goes with my life.
Do you have this, too?
When I dig up certain memories (or even reflect on something from a few days ago), there’s usually a song playing with the pictures in my mind. With memories of Grandma Jane I can hear her singing “Puff the Magic Dragon” at the piano b/c it’s one of my favorite childhood times spent with her. So that one makes sense. The “Isn’t She Lovely” example from a few days ago…. again…makes sense, right? Paul had walked into the hospital room singing that song.
But, on the more neurotic side of things, sometimes the song itself is quite unrelated..but a line from lyrics I would have sworn I’d forgotten suddenly pops into my head. It’s a phrase that resonates. It’s one of those “hey, like that song” moments.
When I think of Lindsey Rendlen on her wedding day, I hear Lena Horne belting out with such confidence & grace:
I DEFY ANY CLOUD TO STAND IN MY WAY…

By the time we arrived at the church, it was sprinkling.
By the time she had her dress on, there was a downpour.
And what was Lindsey’s reaction?:
“How GREAT that it’s raining! ~ It just adds to the romance, don’t you think?”
And how right she was.
The storm darkened the candlelit sanctuary and as she and Chris spoke the promises that they’d written for each other, thunder crashed in the distance. It’s as if everyone in the church could feel the power of that which is larger than ourselves.
It was amazing. A spring storm, the patter of rain on the rooftop and love — bold, beaming, down-to-your-toes, smile-filled love — “on a most wonderful day like today”.

below: Kent of Kent’s Floral Gallery bringing Lindsey her bouquet.
And whoa! did she ever like it!!

I love the “through the doorway” shot above. This was just moments before the wedding ~ my sister Carla is Lindsey’s stylist and that’s her in those crazy heels. Kids these days

above: Kim Ryan from Broadway Christian is one of my most favorite local ministers .
I love both the sound of her voice and how well she truly seems to know and enjoy the couples she marries. And speaking of enjoying. Wow, note below this couple’s chemistry. Ohh…laa…laaa. See Lindsey’s mom looking on from the side? Love that!

Here’s the WPJA award image. I’m still pretty proud of that. The historic Tiger Columns Hotel has a beautiful ballroom but shooting in it can be a bit intimidating. What I’m most happy about here is the success & drama of the off-camera lighting. And the looks on all three of their faces. And the composition. And LOVE that mirror, especiallyl at that angle. Okay, OK I really do love this picture ~ am still just tickled at the thought of others really liking it, too.

Edith Hall’s cakes are as beautiful as they are delicious. She is AMAZING.

When the rains died down, the winds picked up. Flower petals were subbed in last minute in lieu of sparklers. Festive & fabulous either way!!
